What can I say - this went triple platinum! The Brilliant team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken made this one of the most successful sound tracks in film history. I was the first one to hear and sing the title song - it was at Alan's house as we were preparing for our first press conference. Howard was very ill and in the hospital at the time, and Alan and I literally sang it to him over the telephone. Sadly, Howard didn't live long enough to see the film's premiere, but the legacy he has left with Disney will live on and affect children for many decades to come.
